New York Watch Case Co.
Initial Marking: NYWCCo,NYWCo
Location: New York
Years of Operation: 1863 - c.1925
Identification: Cases are marked either N.Y.W.Co. or N.Y.W.C.Co. in a pointed banner accompanied by a U.S. Assay mark. Couvette is marked with the purity indicator (14K, 18K) and the serial number. The rim is stamped with the last four digits of the serial number in two parts on either side of the hinge. The transition from "N.Y.W.Co." to "N.Y.W.C.Co." roughly happened between serial numbers 15,000 and 20,000. These cases should not be confused with earlier cases for the New York Watch Company that are typically marked with a K18 or crown gumdrop.
