Ira G. Blake
In 1864, Ira G. Blake and P.S. Bartlett, of the American Watch Company in Waltham, visited Chicago. There, they met with J.C. Adams, and the trio discussed the opportunity to create a watch factory to serve the western trade. Within the year, the National Watch Company was organized in Chicago with plans to construct a factory in the nearby town of Elgin.
