Elgin Grade 316 was a slight modification on the existing Grade 217, and the two movements are nearly identical. According to material catalogs, the primary difference is the Grade 316 features a micrometric regulator, among a few other minor parts. In the 1907 A.C. Becken catalog, the Grade 217 movement is illustrated while the Grades 316/317 are described.
